THE HEALTHY PENGUIN NATION
HOSTS A COMMUNITY HEALTH FAIR

With a focus on health, Clark College will welcome the community
on Wednesday, May 14

Healthy Penguin Nation initiative logoVANCOUVER, Wash. — Blending its wellness initiative with its commitment to service learning, Clark College will host a Community Health Fair on Wednesday, May 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Community Health Fair is a part of “Spring into Action!” – a series of three college-wide service events this spring at Clark College. 

Visitors will learn about health, wellness and fitness options in Clark County.  They will be able to take part in fitness demonstrations and health screenings.  They’ll also receive information about local health-related resources.

Clark College Service-Learning and Volunteer Program Manager Jody Shulnak said, “With support from Community Choices, which promotes a healthy, livable Clark County, and the Washington State Department of Health, the Community Health Fair will offer engaging programs and important information for members of our entire community.” 

Events highlights will include:

Gaiser Student Center:
      *
Health, wellness & fitness vendors/exhibitors
      * Health screenings
      * Rojo the Llama (therapy llama)
      * Information about the Clark College Healthy Penguin Nation initiative
      * Live performances by the Clark College Women’s and Concert Choirs

Penguin Student Lounge:
     *
Guests are invited to stop in and try any of these fitness demonstrations: Kickboxing, Pilates, Dancing, Core Training and Aerobic Workout 

Penguin Union Building Rooms 258 A, B & C:
     * “The Community Report Card: A Springboard for Community Action” -- Presentation by Community Choices, a local nonprofit working toward creating a healthy, livable Clark County.
     * Presentation by the Clark County Health Department on STD Services and Reproductive Health
     * Clark College student debate team, facilitated by Dave Kosloski
     * Laughter Workshop by educator Marcia McReynolds, founder of Listening Planet
