THEIR GOAL:  AN ALL-STAR MATCH TO REMEMBER

On Saturday, Dec. 6, Clark College will host the 2008 NWAACC All Star Soccer Competition, which will be held at Doc Harris Field in Camas

      

VANCOUVER, Wash. – Residents of Southwest Washington will get to see some of the region’s finest collegiate athletes in action when Clark College hosts the 2008 Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges (NWAACC) All Star Soccer competition. 

The event will be held on Saturday, Dec. 6 at Doc Harris Field in the Camas High School athletic facilities.  Doc Harris Field, a covered facility, is located is located at NE 22nd Avenue and NE Ione Street, Camas.

About the competition

NWAACC serves four regions: North, South, East, and West. In soccer, Clark College competes in the South Region.

The first match will take place at noon with women soccer players from the East and South regions competing against women from the North and West regions.  At 2 p.m., a men’s team representing the East and South regions will take on a men’s team representing the North and West regions.

During halftime of each event, spectators will enjoy a soccer match between members of the Camas-Washougal Soccer Club.

The All-Star event will also include the announcement of the NWAACC Coach of the Year and Player of the Year.

Tickets may be purchased by cash or check at the Clark College Athletics Department from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.  The Athletics Department is located on the second floor of the college’s O’Connell Sports Center.  Clark College is located at 1933 Fort Vancouver Way, Vancouver

Tickets will also be available at the event.  The cost of general admission is $6 per person.  The cost for children (ages six through 12), seniors and members of military families is $3 per person.  Children ages five and under are admitted free of charge.

Clark College Interim Athletic Director Dennis Huston said, “We are proud to host this All Star competition, which will give our community – especially our young people – a chance to watch soccer players of such high skills.”
