HONORS FOR GOOD TASTE


Clark College Culinary Arts student Jerome Chiong earned statewide honors in an American Culinary Federation (ACF) culinary competition

Culinary Arts student Jerome ChiongVANCOUVER, Wash. – Clark College student Jerome Chiong earned a bronze medal in this summer’s American Culinary Federation (ACF) Hot Food, Pastry and Cold Salon culinary competition.   

Chiong, who resides in Vancouver, competed against entrants from Renton Technical College and Lake Washington Technical College in the patisserie/confectionery category which featured fancy cookies, chocolates and petit fours. 

The competition, which was open to students and professional members of the Washington State Chefs Association (WSCA), was held at Renton Technical College in Renton, Wash. on July 26.   The WSCA is the Washington chapter of the American Culinary Federation. 

Chiong served as a cook in the U.S. Army before entering Clark College, where he is working toward a Bakery Management Diploma.  His goal is to become a pastry chef.
