New Student Weekly Guide
As an incoming student at Clark College we have been sending you emails each week of items you can complete before the term starts. This also assists with any questions you may have or if something is not working for you it is best to know early. Below are the emails you should be getting, this just creates a place you can refer back to.
If you have any questions about the content about please email Student Success.
Week 1: Orientation, Academic Advising, and Placement Information
Step 1: Orientation Completion
The first and most important task is to complete orientation. Orientation is in a Canvas module packed with helpful resources and information you will refer to during your time at Clark. Please follow this link to get started. Doing this early will allow you ample time to complete the other steps required to get you registered and into your classes successfully. If you have any questions, please connect with the Welcome Center.
Step 2: Placement
Your individual situation determines what placement path is best for you. Reviewing the assessment paths is a great place to start to find your next step. Most programs require students to have math and English placement to take the necessary classes. You must have your placement completed before planning and registering for classes. Again, we are excited to have you start at Clark. If you need placement assistance, our virtual support center is a great place to check out.
Visit the assessment website for more information about your placement options.
If you have transcripts, submit unofficial or official copies of transcripts to enroll@clark.edu. An official college transcript is required for the evaluation of transfer credits.
Step 3: Schedule an Appointment with Your Academic Advisor
Schedule an appointment to meet with an Academic Advisor before registering for classes. It is not required to meet with an Academic Advisor prior to registering but is recommended. Appointments can be scheduled two weeks in advance. If there are no appointments available when you check, please try again the following day as more open daily. Before meeting with the Academic Advisor, please complete Orientation, and your placement (see Step 2). Academic Advisors at Clark support you through developing long-term educational plans that fit your personal and career goals and connect you to the necessary resources for your future academic success.
Once your first term is underway, you will be assigned an Academic Advisor in your ctcLink account. Before then, you can schedule an appointment with any Academic Advisor who best aligns with your intended program of study. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Week 2: Complete Your FAFSA or WASFA Application
Step 1: Complete Your Application for Financial Aid & Scholarships
The choice to attend college is a big decision–and potentially a big cost. But it does not have to be. Many resources are available to help students cover the expenses of attending college – tuition, books, tools, transportation, childcare, and more. Many students use a variety of these options based on their individual needs to help pay for college. These resources help ease the financial burden so that you can focus on your education and remove barriers that may prevent you from completing your degree or certificate.
Please note that the FAFSA/WASFA opened for the 2024-2025 year. It looks a little different and we want to offer support. For more information about the change, please visit the 2024-25 Financial Aid Changes webpage.
