Tutoring Tip of the Week #9

Hello! Well, here we are, (penguin) feet first in Week #9! It is amazing how quickly a quarter slips by. Just two weeks of classes left and then Finals!

Tutoring will have regular operation this week but remember – next week (March 9th-13th) is the Snack & Study! The Snack & Study is held the week prior to finals every quarter. During this week ALL campus tutoring locations are closed and all tutoring personnel relocate to the main floor of the library with campus resources to help YOU get prepped for your finals and to wrap up those final projects. ASCC provides snacks to keep you fueled, and you can snag a 30-minute micro-workshop on Guided Study Session, Stress Management, or Test Anxiety to really get yourself prepared! We hope to see you there!

Commencement Ceremony Sign-up/Cap & Gown Order

Graduates - This year's Commencement Ceremony will be held Thursday, June 18, 2026. If you plan to participate please be sure to sign-up for the ceremony and order your cap and gown by April 10, 2026.

A Marvelous Talk with Comic Book Writer Kelly Sue DeConnick, March 4th, 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. in PUB 161

Join us for a 2-hour conversation with Marvel and DC comic book writer Kelly Sue DeConnick! From Captain Marvel to Wonder Woman Historia, and Pretty Deadly, she will talk comics, creativity, and how stories really get made from PEN to PRINT! Pizza will be provided.

Reminder: Animals on Campus

Clark College does not allow animals in campus buildings unless they are service animals, (Policy 510.058 Animals on Campus). What counts as a service animal? Under the ADA and Washington State law a service animal is a dog that is individually trained to perform a specific task related to a disability. Archer Gallery Exhibition Opening Reception, March 5th, 12:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. in Archer Gallery

We will be celebrating the opening of 'The Other Side of Yesterday,' an exhibition by our 2026 Artist in Residence Nan Curtis. Come see her new, large-scale sculptures and interactive installations. We will also have free snacks and drink.

Athletics

Discounted Fitness Center Passes

Currently enrolled students pay $10.00 / quarter to work out in the Clark College Fitness Center. Students take their photo ID to the Cashiers Office in Gaiser Hall to pay. Then, go to the Fitness Center in O'Connell Sports Complex (OSC). While supplies last.

Students who are currently enrolled in Physical Education, HPE 266 or HPE 258 (Fitness Wellness) can use the fitness center free for that quarter. Fitness Center hours and information.

RAVE Guardian – Campus Safety App

Free C-Tran Bus Passes with a Free Student ID

Get a Free C-Tran Bus Pass and a Free Clark College Student ID through the Bookstore. Simply bring a valid photo ID.

Apply Now for Scholarships!

Scholarships are available for students in any major who have a minimum 2.5 GPA and complete the application by April 16, 2026. Visit the Clark College Foundation website to apply and find more information about additional scholarship opportunities.

Protect Yourself from Phishing Scams!

Always verify the legitimacy of requests for personal information, even if they seem to come from Clark College. If you receive an email, text, or call asking for sensitive details:

  • Pause before responding.
  • Contact the Clark College Helpdesk at (360) 992-2425 or helpdesk@clark.edu to confirm the request.

Scammers may pose as Clark College or state employees to steal your personal information. Stay vigilant and protect yourself from fraud. Stay safe—think before you share!

Need to Use a Microwave?

Students need to eat. Sometimes you need a microwave. Here are some locations of microwaves throughout the main campus: Basic Needs Hub (GHL 216), Frost Arts Center, Clark Bookstore, Hanna Hall Study Lounge, Culinary, Student Life, JSH near Clark Café, BHL near vending machines, SHL lower level near vending machines, NERD Cave (SBG 102). Please be mindful that other students use this machine, too. Please clean up after you make a mess. Be a resourceful and responsible student.

Hours: Monday - Thursday 7:40 a.m. - 2 p.m.; Friday 7:40 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Menu: Serving coffee, espresso drinks, tea, hot chocolate, frappes, smoothies, italian soda, energy drinks, oatmeal, bagels, donuts, muffins, scones, and danishes.

Printer Locations & Student Print Account

Did you know that if you need to print anything, each student has a printing account linked to their Clark Labs account? 1500 credits each term. Learn more about Student Print Accounts. Have questions or need help, contact IT services. All open computer labs feature printers available for student use:

  • SHL 135: Monday – Thursday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Career & Personality Assessment Opportunities

Learn more about your unique personality type preferences and discover career possibilities. The Strong Interest Inventory career assessment, and the Myers-Briggs Personality Type Indicator are assessments available to currently enrolled students. They include a detailed report that helps to identify interest areas, career pathways, and personality style strengths & preferences. These assessments are tools to help individuals learn about career options, understand themselves better and relationships with others. Sign-up to complete the assessment(s) and pick an interpretation session date. During the session, you'll receive your report(s) and learn strategies to support with your career or personal development.

Free Workshops at WorkSource

Did you know that your local WorkSource offers a variety of free workshops (virtual and in person) to support jobseekers and career changers? Some example workshops offered are: Creating the Right Resume, Coping with Stress During the Job Search, Resolving Conflict at Work, How to Get Past the Applicant Tracking System, and more! Registration is required for virtual workshops.

Disability Access Center Accommodations

Are you a student who is new to Clark and has a disability? Clark's Disability Access Center (formerly Disability Support Services) supports students with a range of disabilities and health conditions, from depression to ADD/ADHD to Crohn's disease and more. We approve students for things such as: added time on exams, recording of lectures, shared peer notes from lectures, and alternate book formats such as audiobooks.

You May be Eligible for Support through Workforce Education Services

Workforce Education Services (WES) administers a variety of programs that are designed to support students who are seeking certificates and degree programs with an employment goal, as well as students enrolled in Transitional Studies programs. Students may receive assistance with tuition, fees and books as well as help in accessing other supports to include public benefits by completing the Workforce Education Services Application

You may be eligible for support through Workforce Education Services if you meet one of the following criteria:
  • Considered low income
  • Receiving TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families)
  • Receiving federal food benefits (SNAP/EBT)
  • Receiving unemployment benefits
  • Exhausted unemployment benefits within the past 48 months
  • A military veteran discharged within the past 48 months or have an upcoming separation date
  • A displaced Homemaker within the past 48 months
  • A Former Foster Youth and under 22 years old
  • An Unaccompanied Homeless Youth and under 22 years old

Pop Up "Body Double Study Sesh," Every Tuesday, 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Join us for a Pop-Up Style Body Doubling Study Session and explore new parts of campus. Hosted by the Disability Access Center Peer Mentors, Body Doubling is a supportive study method where students work independently but as a collective, together in a shared space to boost focus, motivation and accountability.
