At the college and in the community, Clark College is
a leader. Here are some highlights from 2008!

It's all about the student. That was the theme of the 2008 State of the College event, which featured plans for the college's 75th anniversary and the unveiling of the college's new Healthy Penguin Nation initiative.

A Vancouver man received the presidential scholarship, three faculty members were honored for excellence and award-winning novelist, poet, screenwriter, composer and performer Sherman Alexie delivered the keynote address during Clark College’s 2008 commencement ceremony at the Clark County Amphitheater.

To the strains of “Pomp and Circumstance” and the cheers of family members and friends, nearly 75 students received their GED and high school completion certificates in a ceremony in the O’Connell gymnasium on June 21.
It's a sign of the times: new signage helps students and guests find classes and events quickly.

On Feb. 6, Clark College’s Club for Social Action teamed up with the ONE campaign to sponsor Poverty Awareness Day – an event focused on raising awareness about poverty locally and globally.

Clark College's chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), the international honor society of two-year colleges, earned honors and made news on several fronts when it hosted PTK's 2008 regional conference.

Friday the 13th of June 2008 proved to be a terrific day at Clark College as the college held a celebration to mark the grand reopening of the newly-remodeled Gaiser Hall.
As part of the remodeling of Gaiser Hall, the new Clark College Bookstore opened its doors during a celebration fit for a penguin king.
Clark College received a certificate of appreciation from Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR). The award recognizes the college’s commitment to the Guard and Reserve and, specifically, the tuition waiver given to veterans to attend Clark College.
Clark alum Denis Hayes was honored with a special designation at the college -- his own witness tree.
Gail Liberman, director of Clark College’s Teaching and Learning Center, has been named a recipient of the 2008 Anna Sue McNeill Teaching, Learning and Assessment Award.
Clark College Running Start student Renata Fusso received the 2008 General George C. Marshall Youth Leadership Award.
The start of spring quarter meant the eagerly awaited opening of the newly-remodeled O'Connell Sports Center.
