2024-25 Financial Aid YearUpdates

As you may have heard, there are significant challenges with the nationwide rollout of the new Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) that have affected schools across the country, including Clark College.   Challenges range from:

• the ability for a number of students to submit a 2024-25 FAFSA form.
• a delay by the US Department of Education (ED) in delivering accurately processed FAFSA data to colleges and universities.
• the need for software to be rewritten and tested by the Washington State Board Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC) prior to Clark College’s ability to review FAFSA data and provide financial aid offers to our students.

Even though we began receiving 2024-25 FAFSA data from ED in mid-March, much of the data has been identified as being inaccurate and requires re-processing.  This causes yet another delay in testing software, reviewing FAFSA data and packaging financial aid for students.  The earliest we anticipate being able to provide 2024-25 financial aid offers to students is late June.  

We understand that the late delivery of financial aid offers will quite likely impact many students who rely on financial assistance to attend Clark College in Summer 2024 term.  We appreciate your patience as the financial aid team is committed to providing students with offers as quickly as possible once we can review FAFSA data and package financial aid.

• If you have not already done so, we encourage you to submit the 2024-25 FAFSA as soon as possible. If you are a resident of Washington and perhaps are ineligible to submit the FAFSA, you are encouraged to submit the Washington Application for State Financial Aid (WASFA) instead.
