Curious. Innovative. Creative. Exciting. Those are just some of the words that describe the students and faculty in Clark's science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) programs. Find out more in the winter 2010 issue of Clark College Connections.
You'll also learn about a regional partnership that offers Clark students experience in the three Rs of the 21st century (reduce, reuse and recycle). You'll meet Clark's Exceptional Faculty and Exceptional Classified Staff honorees and you'll learn how Clark College at Columbia Tech Center has seamlessly become The Next Step for higher education in Southwest Washington.
The focus is on the future in the fall 2009 issue of Clark College Connections. From the opening of Clark College at Columbia Tech Center to opportunities for students created through financial aid and Clark's Displaced Homemakers program. Highlights of Clark's 2009 commencement and graduation ceremonies remind current students that their next step is not that far away. You'll meet three talented Clark College students who each won a 2009 Washington Award for Vocational Excellence (WAVE). And you'll see how Clark College continues to preserve the past and embrace the future by opening a time capsule from the college's 50th anniversary and dedicating a new one -- to be opened in 2033 during the college's 100th anniversary.

In fall 2009, Clark College at Columbia Tech Center will open -- the Next Step in higher education in Southwest Washington. That outstanding new facility is the focus of the lead article in our spring 2009 issue. You'll also meet two Clark College students who were named to the 2009 All-Washington Academic Team. And you'll learn about special events the 2009 State of the College address and the 2009 Pathways to Your Future Career Fair as well as the 25th Women of Achievement celebration, hosted by Clark College and YWCA Clark County. That event, which began as a quiet tea at the college in 1985, has honored 200 women during those 25 years. It's another way that the college is preserving the past, honoring the present and embracing the future during its 75th anniversary year.
Founded in one building during the Great Depression, Clark College is now the second largest community and technical college in Washington state. We're marking our 75th anniversary by continuing to build a bright future for our students and our community. That's the theme of our winter 2009 issue which includes highlights from the kickoff of our year-long Diamond Jubilee. You'll also meet this year's Exceptional Faculty and Exceptional Classified Staff award honorees. Our spotlight stories include a focus on Clark's paralegal program and news about exciting new weekend, online and two-day degree options. Clark College is a jewel so it's not surprising that our Diamond Jubilee is shaping up to be quite a celebration. That's the focus of our fall 2008 issue as the college prepares for a year of great events marking our 75th anniversary. (You'll also learn the history of our penguin mascot, Oswald.) You'll discover how we're forging new connections with Clark students through e-mail, the Welcome Center, the Cannell Library and the newly remodeled Gaiser Hall. We also shine a spotlight on service learning - a vibrant way for students and lifelong learners to give back to the community and the world.

You'll see how the college's engineering department is training the next generation of innovators. You'll also learn about some of the people and events that have made news in the past few months -- and make Clark College a great place year-round.
Cool nights. Cool classes. The winter 2008 issue of "Clark College Connections" focuses on evening classes at Clark College, including some evening programs that can lead directly to the certificate you need. You'll also meet some exceptional people: they are the college's 2007 Exceptional Faculty and Classified Staff honorees. You'll learn how Clark graduates are bringing new energy to the power utilities industry. You'll also visit the college's beautiful new bookstore and learn how opportunity grants are providing tuition assistance for Clark students.
The fall 2007 issue of "Clark College Connections" takes an in-depth look at the ways in which Clark's Adult Literacy program is addressing needs in the community. The I-BEST (Integrated Basic Education and Skills Training) program is part of that effort -- helping workers gain both literacy and job skills. You'll meet five outstanding faculty members who recently received tenure -- a status awarded to those who have exhibited professional excellence and outstanding abilities. You'll also learn about the talented people and exceptional events that have been forging connections between the college and the community that we serve.

The spring 2007 issue of "Clark College Connections" celebrates the diversity of our college and the community that we serve -- from our international students and clubs to a welcoming environment for all. You'll also meet the Clark College students who were named to the 2007 All-Washington Academic Team, learn how our faculty members have an impact "Beyond the Classroom," and find out how Clark College is "Connecting with Our Community." You'll find information on the wide array of scholarships that are available to Clark College students and you'll learn about the world of events that bring the community Clark College throughout the year.

The winter 2007 issue of "Clark College Connections" shows how the college is keeping pace with technology in everything we do -- from smart classrooms to distance learning to having a wireless campus. It's all about access.
You'll also meet Clark's new Vice President of Instruction Rassoul Dastmozd and the winners of this year's Exceptional Faculty and Exceptional Classified Staff awards. You'll also learn about some of the recent events that make Clark College such a vibrant and exciting place.

speaker at Clark's 2006 commencement. With new and returning
students getting ready for the fall quarter, members of the Class
of 2006 share their thoughts on how Clark College made a difference
in their lives.
Clark College believes that "College Is Possible" and is a national leader in a program to help families realize their dream of sending their children to college. who has "Perfect Chemistry" with her students while
math professor John Mitchell brings "An International Equation
to the Classroom." Articles showcasing the new Penguin Student Union and the college's award-winning horticulture program are also featured, as well as members of the African Gospel Acappella. They met as students at the School for the Blind in Liberia. Today, as Clark College students, they perform to earn money to build a resource center for the disabled in their homeland. |
