The Independent
Students can gain experience in journalism and communications through work on the
Clark College campus newspaper, The Independent. Earn credit while getting an introduction
to the aspects of journalism including writing, editing, photography, layout, advertising
and business management.The Independent serves as a major communication link among
students, student government, the faculty, staff, and administration. Some staff positions
are paid.

Dreaming of seeing your name in print? Anxious to show off your artistic and literary
abilities? The Phoenix, Clark's art and literary magazine, is funded by ASCC to encourage the creative efforts
of Clark College students. The magazine is open to submissions from all Clark College
students and considers 2D and 3D artwork, poetry, and short fiction for publication.
Staff members practice budgeting, marketing, editing, writing, judging, and layout
skills. Volunteers are welcome and some paid student staff positions are available.
