Meet the IELP Faculty
From a young age, Justine Schiele has been interested in language and the way people use language to express themselves. She pursued creative writing and journalism at Santa Clara University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Bachelor of Science in Communication. During that time, she began working with ESL students and quickly found her passion in teaching. She earned a Master of Arts in TESOL from the Monterey Institute of International Studies and has taught students of many ages and backgrounds. In addition to teaching, Ms. Schiele enjoys traveling, exploring the outdoors, and eating delicious food.
Shannon earned her Bachelor’s degree in Spanish from the Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington. After teaching EFL in Japan and South Korea, she came to Portland and earned her Master’s in TESOL from Portland State University. She has been an instructor in the Portland area since 2011. She is currently teaching in the IELP programs at Portland State University and Clark College. Her passion is teaching English and helping students learn more about American culture. Outside of teaching, she enjoys playing music, cooking new recipes, and gardening.
