Get Involved with The Swift: Clark College Literary Journal

Join The Swift, Clark College's literary journal to help edit, produce, and publish our annual issue that features fiction, poetry, and creative fiction written by Clark students, alumni, and staff. There are several ways to get involved in the '25-'26 academic year while you gain job and/or creative writing experience:

• Enroll in 1 - 5 credits (variable, according to your own commitment level) in ENGL 277 during fall quarter to gain experience on staff, your name on The Swift masthead, and humanities credits while you help produce the annual issue.
• Check out the-swift.org or @theswiftlit on Instagram for submission guidelines, launch party, and other opportunities.
• Apply to the paid editorial positions posted in Career Services in late fall, slated to start early winter quarter.

Career & Personality Assessment Opportunities

Learn more about your unique personality type preferences and discover career possibilities. The Strong Interest Inventory career assessment, and the Myers-Briggs Personality Type Indicator are assessments available to currently enrolled students. They include a detailed report that helps to identify interest areas, career pathways, and personality style strengths & preferences. These assessments are tools to help individuals learn about career options, understand themselves better and relationships with others. Sign-up to complete the assessment(s) and pick an interpretation session date. During the session, you'll receive your report(s) and learn strategies to support with your career or personal development.

Do you know what Work Study is? Are you looking to receive a job on campus? Do you have a Work Study award? Well you may be eligible to earn that award, like a paycheck, through an on campus job. Free Workshops at WorkSource

Did you know that your local WorkSource offers a variety of free workshops (virtual and in person) to support jobseekers and career changers? Some example workshops offered are: Creating the Right Resume, Coping with Stress During the Job Search, Resolving Conflict at Work, How to Get Past the Applicant Tracking System, and more! Registration is required for virtual workshops.

You May be Eligible for Support through Workforce Education Services

• Considered low income
• Receiving TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families)
• Receiving federal food benefits (SNAP/EBT)
• Receiving unemployment benefits
• Exhausted unemployment benefits within the past 48 months
• A military veteran discharged within the past 48 months or have an upcoming separation date
• A displaced Homemaker (loss of primary income due to becoming widowed, separated, divorced, or lost income due to loss of a spouse's job or incarceration of a spouse) within the past 48 months
• A Former Foster Youth and under 22 years old
• An Unaccompanied Homeless Youth and under 22 years old

Disability Access Center Accommodations

Are you a student who is new to Clark and has a disability? Clark's Disability Access Center (formerly Disability Support Services) supports students with a range of disabilities and health conditions, from depression to ADD/ADHD to Crohn's disease and more. We approve students for things such as: added time on exams, recording of lectures, shared peer notes from lectures, and alternate book formats such as audiobooks. Did you know that there is a spot on Clark's campus with free hygiene products, snacks, and other resources? Stop by the Basic Needs Hub, located in Gaiser Hall 216, to access these resources for students and spend time with Oso, the Basic Needs Hub therapy dog!

If you are facing challenges with access to adequate food, stable housing, affordable childcare, or meeting other basic needs, please fill out the Basic Needs Intake Form and a Basic Needs team member will reach out to you with personalized support.
