522.003 DESK-SIDE WASTE CONTAINERS
Two waste containers have been placed at employee workstations. The gray container
is for recyclable paper products. The smaller, blue “saddle” container is for dry,
non-recyclable items. Plastic-lined
containers are centrally located in departments for wet trash, such as food and drink.
522.005 MIXED PAPER RECYCLING PROGRAM
Mixed paper waste generated by College employees may be recycled in the gray portion of the desk-side waste containers. Mixed paper waste can also be placed in labeled recycling bins located in central areas in buildings. A list of acceptable/non-acceptable recyclable paper products can be obtained from the associate director of environmental health and safety.

522.010 CORRUGATED CARDBOARD RECYCLING
Corrugated cardboard must be recycled separately. To recycle corrugated cardboard, break the box seals and lay the box flat. Avoid “crushing” the box. Place flattened box(es) in pre-arranged departmental Custodial Services pick-up points or contact Facilities Services for pick-up.

522.015 MAGAZINES, NEWSPAPER AND LIGHTWEIGHT CARDBOARD
Magazines, newspaper and lightweight cardboard may be recycled in the gray portion of the desk-side waste containers. No bundling of materials is necessary.
522.020 ALUMINUM CAN RECYCLING
Aluminum cans may be placed in aluminum can recycling receptacles provided throughout the campus. Receptacles can be found next to vending machines.
522.025 PLASTIC, STYROFOAM AND GLASS RECYCLING
Individual efforts are the only recycling avenues for these materials on campus.
522.030 OTHER COLLEGE RECYCLING PROGRAMS
Other College recycling programs include scrap metal and wood, spent tires, oil, lead-acid batteries, oil filters, antifreeze, automotive parts cleaner, mixed fuels, computer printer cartridges, lead foil, photography fixer and film, and lithographic plates. Contact the associate director of environmental health and safety for more information.

522.035 PURCHASE OF RECYCLED PRODUCTS
Employees are encouraged to purchase recycled and/or recycled-content products whenever feasible. Purchasing Services maintains information on the availability of these products.
522.040 USED FURNITURE AND EQUIPMENT
Facilities Services maintains a storage area for used furniture and office equipment. To request furnishings contact the custodial manager.
