New Employee Orientation
Welcome to the Penguin Nation! We value you as an important member of our Clark College community and want to help provide you with the information to be successful in your new role. This will be a virtual online orientation through Zoom. Information on upcoming orientation dates can be found on our "Upcoming Events" training calendar.
We will cover:
- Introduction to Clark College and resources to help you be successful in your new role

If you are a new employee, we encourage you to attend orientation.
*New Employee Orientation is intended for administrative, classified, part-time hourly, temporary and exempt positions (this orientation is not meant faculty – as faculty have their respective orientation).
Accessibility Training
As we continue our remote work, consider our virtual presence and the importance for the entire college and aim to implement accessibility into your work.
- Accessibility Made Easy, a Canvas resource to support staff in creating accessible content: https://clarkcollege.instructure.com/courses/1839992. The content is easy to follow accessibility steps and resources. Topics cover commonly used tools: Microsoft Outlook 2016, Microsoft Word 2016, Microsoft PPT 2016, and Adobe Acrobat DC for PDFs. Thank you to Tre Sandlin, Instructional Accessibility Specialist and Megan Jasurda, Director of Disability Support Services.
- Accessible Word Docs, a training that provides basic accessibility foundations practiced in Microsoft Word. The following are offered in virtual Zoom format:

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Trainings
Equity in Hiring is a required training to be completed every two years for folks
who serve on a Clark College screening committee. Offered monthly.

Power, Privilege, and Inequity (PPI) and Equitable Decision Making (EDM)Clark College’s Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Department works hard to
provide relevant and impactful trainings around diversity and equity topics. The Power, Privilege and Inequity Training policy was updated to reflect RCW 28B.10.145: Diversity, equity, inclusion and antiracism – Professional Development. Trainings that qualifying for Power, Privilege, and Inequity credit are marked with
“PPI” and trainings eligible for Equitable Decision Making credit are marked with
“EDM.” All Clark College employees (faculty and staff) are required to complete one
(1) Power, Privilege, and Inequity training (PPI) and one (1) EDM training per year.
