Advanced Placement

Clark College grants credit for completion of the College Board's Advanced Placement (AP) exam. AP is a partnership between secondary schools and colleges and universities. AP courses are taught by high school teachers, following course guidelines developed and published by the College Board. Students interested in transferring to a four-year college or university should check the requirements of their target school to determine how their AP scores will be transferred.

Currently recognized AP exams and their direct equivalencies are listed below. Students will be awarded 5 credits of specified electives for each score report received where there is no exam listed and/or the score earned is 3 or higher. Credit is posted with an “S” grade at the end of the term for which the score report was received, once a transcript record has been established.

No credits will be awarded for an exam if the student has already earned credit in a duplicate course; a maximum of 45 credits of AP test credits can apply towards transfer degrees/certificates, and a maximum of 60 AP test credits can apply towards Career and Technical Education degrees/certificates. Credit will be awarded on the basis of official AP results, not transcript notation.
