CASAS (Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment Systems)

CASAS is a competency based test that determines placement in CAP (Career and Academic Preparation) coursework  or in English as a Second Language (ESL) classes. CASAS tests subjects may include: reading, math, and listening..

Basic Education Students Transitioning to College Level Coursework

Continuing students who are ready to transition from Basic Education coursework into college-level Math and/or English have the following pathways available:

Math: Upon successful completion of CAP 42 and/or CAP 46, students may directly enroll in college-level Math classes. Students also have the option to take the ALEKS Math Assessment to potentially place into a higher-level college Math course.

English: Upon successful completion of CAP 90, students may directly enroll in college-level English classes.
