Microsoft Student Resources

Clark College provides free Microsoft (MS) Office 365 to students while they are actively and currently enrolled in courses of one credit or more. The service includes Office 365 software downloads on up to 5 devices and 1 TB of OneDrive storage space. Access to Office 365 including the OneDrive storage only lasts while the student is enrolled and will deactivate when the student is no longer in courses. This means stored content may not be viewed after deactivation. It is highly recommended that students download all the files that are saved in their OneDrive storage so that any important documents, pictures or other files are not lost.

Troubleshooting

COMMON PROBLEMS

The following situations cover the most common problems encountered by students regarding Office 365:

I can't log in.

Your log in is valid only if you are currently enrolled in the quarter. If you are not taking classes for the current term you will not have your Office 365 account set up.

If you are taking classes for the current quarter, please make sure you are entering the correct credentials:

  • Student Email address (including the @students.clark.edu part)
  • Clark Labs Password (same as your computer/WiFi password)

If you forgot these credentials, please reset them using at the Student Accounts page.

It is also possible that your account has been deactivated due to long absence. If you are returning after a period of absence from Clark, you may have to sign in to a Clark Lab computer and log in to office.com to reactivate your account.

I no longer have the phone number or email that I registered with.

This security data cannot be updated by the student. If you encounter a problem, contact TechHub to help you request a multifactor authorization reset from the administrators.

I can log in, but I can't download the Office software.

Similar to the log in issue, this is most likely caused by an expired or deactivated license. Most students who have not been taking classes for more than a quarter are likely to experience this issue. In most cases, signing in to office.com restores the license.

I can't install my desktop software.

If the installation abruptly terminates, it may be caused by a weak network connection, please make sure that you have a stable network connection and are able to browse the internet.

You may have to remove previously installed Office applications in order to download the ones offered by this subscription. Restarting your computer and trying the installation again may fix issues in some cases.

The installation does take a long time therefore please allow the installation process to complete even if the progress bar seems to be at a halt.

NOTE: TechHub technicians can make sure you can access your Office 365 account via web and have access to download, but TechHub cannot help with installation on personal devices other than to offer suggestions. Students may seek further assistance with personal devices from the Student Help Desk.

I don't know how to use some of these programs.

A few courses are offered on campus to learn Office programs, but if you're searching for a free option, Microsoft offers basic training for all of its programs. Browse through the Office 365 Training Center to access easy instruction on how to use the Office 365 suite.
