Monday, June 6,  7:30pm

Gaiser Center, Clark College

The Clark College Women’s Choral Ensemble will present their spring concert, “This Is the Day” on Monday, June 6 at 7:30 p.m. in the Gaiser Center of Clark College. The concert commemorates the ensemble and its director April B. Duvic with a selection of songs celebrating life, music, and the journey the group has taken since its founding in 1996. With a unique mixture of colors, timbres, personalities, energies, spirits, bodies, and breaths, the singers join together to create something unique, memorable, and emotional. The program includes the world premiere of Dr. Donald Appert’s composition “Music” set to a text by Wilfred Owen, dedicated to the ensemble and April Duvic. Other highlights include “No Time” a medley of two traditional camp meetings songs, “Sing Me to Heaven” by Daniel E. Gawthrop, and the concert title, “This Is the Day” a modern gospel song by Gerald T. Smith. In honor of Duvic’s years at Clark College and her impending retirement, over thirty alumni of the Women’s Choral Ensemble are returning to Clark College to join in singing two pieces on the concert. Free Admission.
