Participation in Virtual Commencement ceremony
The June commencement is a ceremony for those students who have completed or plan to complete their degree or certificate during fall, winter or spring of the current school year, or the summer quarter immediately following. Participation is not required. A list to many of your questions are below.
When will the ceremony happen?:
The Commencement ceremony will be a virtual celebration and will go live on Thursday, June 18, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. The link to view the ceremony will be posted on the Commencement web page early June.
What is a virtual ceremony?:
Clark College will have a web page that will post the ceremony on Thursday, June 18, 2020. This web page can be shared by Graduates to any family and friends and be viewed anywhere in the world, so for family and friends that aren’t local they can also celebrate the the accomplishments of the graduates!
The web page will have congratulatory remarks from the Clark College President and Associated Students Council President. It will also include customized personalized slides for each graduate that will have the graduates name, honors status (if applicable), as well as a quote (if chosen to include) and a photo (if chosen to include). When the graduates slide comes up on the screen their name will be announced, as if it would if you were at an in-person ceremony.
An email will be sent out within the first two weeks of May with instructions on how to customize your slide for the ceremony. You will have until May 26th to submit the recording of your name and until June 8 to upload a photo in your cap and gown and include a personalized message or quote.
What about caps and gowns?
The new deadline to order caps and gowns is Friday, May 1 at NOON. Please be sure you submitted your graduation application before submitting your cap and gown order form. Cap and gown order forms may be submitted via email to email@example.com or call 360.992.2942.
Cap and gown packets and honors cords (if applicable) will be mailed directly to the graduate by May 26. We encourage the graduate to get a photo in their cap and gown and submit it for the photo that will display on their custom slide during the virtual ceremony. You will have until June 8 to submit your photos and custom slide details.
How much will caps and gowns cost?:
The College will be covering all costs of the caps and gowns. Graduates may keep their caps and gowns.
What if I already ordered a cap and gown?:
The Bookstore will contact you to refund your money and see if you would like to keep your order. If you do want to keep your order they will also ask for a physical mailing address to mail your order.
I have tribal regalia, may I wear that for my photo and/or the in-person ceremony in June 2021?:
Yes! We encourage those that own their own tribal regalia to wear their regalia for their photo and/or for the in-person ceremony taking place in June 2021.
Can I decorate my cap?:
Yes! We encourage students to decorate their cap and wear it in the photo they upload for their custom slide.
I am a Vet and would like a cord:

I would like a stole showing my identity pride:

When will I get my diploma?:
Your diploma is mailed to you 6-8 weeks after the quarter in which you complete (this is the case regardless of the type of ceremony we hold).
Will I receive Announcements?:
Will there be a program with my name listed?:
If you completed and submitted your graduation application by May 1 at noon your name will be printed in the program. Programs will be mailed with the graduates diploma.
Can I purchase Clark graduate gifts?:
Yes! Our Bookstore has diploma covers and many other grad gifts available for purchase on their online catalog.
Will there be an in-person ceremony?:
Due to the unknown restrictions on large gatherings over the next several months an immediate postponement was not viable. We invite and encourage the class of 2020 to return to Clark on Thursday, June 17, 2021 where we will celebrate the class of 2020 along with the class of 2021. Please keep your cap and gown from this year for next years ceremony!
How do I apply for my Degree/Certificate Completion:
Degrees and Certificates are not awarded automatically. Students must submit a graduation application to Credential Evaluations. Due to remote operations, the completed form should be emailed to email@example.com.
The priority processing deadline for graduation applications is the tenth (10th) day
of the quarter in which the student plans to finish degree or certificate requirements.
Graduation applications submitted by the priority deadline will be processed first
and assured the awarding of the degree or certificate for the appropriate quarter.
Graduation applications received after the priority deadline and through the last day of the quarter will be accepted; however, applications received during this non-priority period will be processed after all priority graduation applications have been reviewed and processed.
All diplomas are sent by mail approximately eight weeks following the end of the quarter in which requirements have been completed.
