On the afternoon of May 19, students and their families filled the area around Anderson Fountain for a chance to indulge in free and exciting activities before diving into the final month of the term. The cloudy, yet warm weather elevated the enthusiastic energy of students joining Spring Fest.

Organized by the Activities Programming Board (APB) and the Office of Student Life, Spring Fest is an annual event hosted in early spring with free boba, llamas, magician performances, and so much more. It’s APB’s largest student event of the year — the event coordinators spend 4–5 months researching and planning.

Camille Villanueva, APB Events Coordinator, said, "Putting on Spring Fest is never a one-person job because it’s all about teamwork, working happily together behind the scenes, to create a beautiful outcome that students truly enjoy."

Students enjoyed a free lunch, with their choice of hot dogs or burritos made by the college’s culinary center. Short and Sweet, a local downtown Vancouver business, participated in giving out free boba drinks  their booth was so popular that they ran out halfway through the event! Students were also able to grab free Poppi drinks and ice cream bars.

A fan favorite was a pair of artists who created custom airbrushed items. Participants could select a blank tote bag or bucket hat and decide how they would like the artists to decorate their item. The line for this booth stretched across the courtyard as people waited for their own custom accessories. The airbrush artists were complemented by caricature artists, balloon artists, and face painters.

While enjoying these goodies, participants enjoyed a captivating performance by a magician. Surrounding the grass near Anderson Fountain were inflatables, a mechanical bull, gladiator joust, Connect Four, and volleyball. A pair of special guests  llamas decorated with floral accessories — joined the event for students to pet and take photos with.
