Clark College and YWCA Clark County honored eight remarkable women at their 2006 Women
of Achievement (WOA) Celebration luncheon. The theme of the celebration was "2006
Women of Achievement: Builders of Communities and Dreams."
The 2006 Women of Achievement honorees were: Jan Asai, Judi Brenes, Jeanne Kojis,
Elise Menashe, Ginger Metcalf, Donna Roberge, Peggy Sheehan and Jan Truttman.
KGW-TV anchor Laural Porter served as emcee for the event, which was held March 8
at the Vancouver Hilton.
More than 600 people -- a record turnout -- attended the 2006 celebration.

Megan Bower
of Camas High School was named the 2006 Young Woman of Achievement,
receiving a $1,000 college scholarship based on her commitment
to community service.
The
scholarship was made available through a $15,000 donation
from community member (and 2006 WOA honoree) Donna Roberge
to establish the scholarship fund.

In addressing
the honorees and guests, Dr. R. Wayne Branch, President of Clark
College noted that, "Women have played a key role at Clark
College from its founding in 1933. Today, women make up
60 percent of the student population at Clark College, ranging
in age from 16 to 80, and all contribute to the College and
to our community." He added, "Our commitment
to celebrating women's lives -- and the courage, strength and
determination they exhibit -- remains a vital part of the Clark
College mission." |
