As of September, 2006, a new policy went into effect that changes the way private party listings may be advertised through the Career & Employment Services office. Private party employers are defined as those who hire students and job seekers for domestic help, on a casual labor or spot basis, The jobs are normally paid by "cash or check only". Due to liabiilty concerns, the College is no longer advertising private party listings online. Instead, the Career & Employment Services office will accept flyers, which it will post on its bulletin board outside the Center.
Another
very important point for you to know is that we do not personally
interview or screen applicants for you, nor do we make personal
recommendations. You are encouraged to use good judgment in hiring
a student or job seeker. We strongly encourage you to check their
references and inquire about their criminal history, if any. You
may have a criminal background check of the applicant done through
the Washington State Patrol for $10 if you have any concerns.
You will need the applicants social security number and birth
date for a thorough check.
If
you would like us to post your job request on our bulletin board, please email a Word document to our office or:
mail your flyer to:
Clark College
Career & Employment Services, MS 25
1933 Fort Vancouver Way
Vancouver, WA 98663
or: Bring your job request in person to our Center, in room 170, T-Building
A word of caution: Please do not list your address on your flyer. We advise you to only list your name and email address and/or phone number so you can talk to the prospective hire before inviting them into your home. Flyers will be kept up for 30 days only. If you fill your position within that period of time, please contact us.
