CLARK COLLEGE CORPORATE EDUCATION AND SCORE: PARTNERS IN LOCATION AND SERVICE
The relocation of SCORE Vancouver offices next to Clark College’s Corporate Education department should result in better service to the Southwest Washington small business community
VANCOUVER, Wash. – The Southwest Washington small business community can get classes, training, counseling and mentoring in one location, now that SCORE Vancouver has relocated their offices next to the Clark College Corporate Education department. The two teams are both located in the college’s “T” Building, located on the west side on Fort Vancouver Way between McLoughlin Blvd. and Fourth Plain Blvd. Clark College is located at 1933 Fort Vancouver Way.
Mike Cooper, Chairman of SCORE Vancouver, said, “We believe co-locating our offices with Clark College Corporate Education will allow for better alignment of SCORE’s counseling and mentoring services with Corporate Education's small business classes and training. Our combined efforts should result in a better overall offering of services to the small business community within Southwest Washington.”
According to Todd Oldham, Clark College Executive Director of Corporate and Continuing Education, "Our joint efforts will assist both the entrepreneur who is looking for guidance in starting a business as well as existing small business looking for assistance with expanding or addressing a current problem.”
SCORE’s move, which took place on December 28, is part of a Clark College workforce development initiative to create a Small Business Support Center (SBSC) for Clark County. The long-term goal is to have other agencies and advocacy groups that service the small business community co-locate within one site at the college. SCORE’s mission is to serve as “Counselors to America's small business.”
Oldham added, “We are looking forward to seeing additional organizations join with Corporate Education and the Small Business Support Center in servingthe Southwest Washington small business community.”
SCORE Vancouver has approximately 30 active counselors and provides one-on-one counseling services during the week both in the morning and the afternoon. Additional information about SCORE is available at www.scorevancouver.org.
