Rave Alert: Emergency Notification System

RAVE Alert is Clark College's text message and email emergency notification system. It allows you to quickly receive emergency communications and other important information via text message and email. Notifications may be about inclement weather alerts or emergency incidents on campus. All faculty, staff and students that have provided the college with a cellular telephone number will be automatically enrolled in the RAVE Alert system.

RAVE Alert will NOT charge you in any way for this service (standard or other messaging charges apply depending upon your wireless carrier plan and subscription details). Clark College will not require faculty, staff or students to provide a personal cellular telephone number. Faculty, staff or students who have not provided a cellular telephone number to the college may still enroll into the RAVE Alert system by visiting https://www.getrave.com/login/clark . Telephone numbers that have been independently enrolled into the RAVE Alert system will not be retrieved or used by Clark College for any other reason other than sending alert information to the enrolled telephone number.

Anyone who wishes to unsubscribe from the RAVE Alert Service may do so by notifying RAVE directly through the website or via text. Once a telephone number is on the unsubscribe list it will NOT be automatically re-enrolled into the RAVE Alert system. To re-enroll a previously unsubscribed number please visit https://www.getrave.com/login/clark .

The intent of this document is to provide helpful, insightful instructions regarding use of the application. Read more about emergency procedures at Clark College.

*Note: It is recommended that you should review your profile and emergency information periodically, optimally at the start of each quarter, to ensure that it is up to date.

Logging In

  1. Go to Rave Alerts login page

The web browser address is: https://www.getrave.com/login/clark

  1. Click in first box and type in your Clark Username.

 

  1. In the second box, enter you Clark account password
  1. Login by pressing enter or clicking the Log In button.

 

My Account Information

  1. On your My Account page it will include:
  1. Button Functionality

Test

 

Enables the user the ability to test the notifications set-up, either through text and/or email.

Edit

 

Enables the user the ability to edit their mobile phone number and/or email addresses.

Delete

 

Enables the user to delete their phone number and/or email address.

 

Update User Information

This will include changes to current information and/or adding phone numbers and/or email associated with the account.

1.       User Profile

  1. To update your name click the edit button
  2. Update your First and/or Last name
  3. Username is not editable
  4. Click Save 
  5. If you do not want save your changes click cancel and it will revert any changes.

2.       Change Password

  1. To Change your password click change
  2. Enter your New Password
  3. Re-Enter New Password
  4. Click Save
  5. If you do not want save your changes click cancel.

3.       Updating Mobile Phone Information

  1. Click the edit button
  2. Enter Mobile Number
  3. Click Continue for each step
  4. Click Done

4.       Add a Mobile Phone Number

  1. Click the add button
  2. Follow the directions b through d in the edit section
  3. Check your My Account Dashboard to make sure the number(s) appear

5.       Delete a Mobile Phone Number

  1. Click the delete button
  2. A pop-up will appear asking if the user is sure that about deleting the Mobile Contact.
  3. Clicking delete will permanently delete the mobile number.
  4. Clicking the (X) button located at the top right will cancel out the action of deletion.

6.       Update a Preferred Email Address Information

  1. To update your Preferred Email address click the edit button
  2. Update your Preferred Email
  3. Click Save.
  4. If you do not want save your changes click cancel and it will revert any changes.

7.       Add a Preferred Email Address Information

*Note: The registration email will always be a Clark email address. The Clark email address provided will never be editable or have the option to be deleted.

  1. Click the add button
  2. Enter your Preferred Emailed
  3. Check your My Account Dashboard to make sure the number(s) appear

8.       Delete a Preferred Email Address

  1. Click the delete button
  2. A pop-up will appear asking if the user is sure that about deleting the Mobile Contact.
  3. Clicking delete will permanently delete the mobile number.
  4. Clicking the (X) button located at the top right will cancel out the action of deletion.

 

Testing Notifications

To insure that notifications are being sent properly a test text message or email can be sent.

1.       Test a Mobile Phone Notification

  1. Click the button next to corresponding mobile number.
  2. A text message will be sent to the number you have selected

2.       Test an Email Notification

  1. Click the button next to corresponding email address.
  2. A text message will be sent to the email address you have selected

 

Updating Email Contacts

It is recommended to all users to update their email contacts to include the email address associated with RAVE notifications. This will insure that all notifications are sent directly to the Inbox and will not end up in the Spam Folder.

  1. Send a test email message to the primary email address.
  2. Click on the drop-down button (located on the right of the reply button) associated with the email.
  3. Select Add no-reply@getrave.com to Contacts list.

 

Opting-out of Notifications

You may access technical support by texting INFO or HELP to 226787 or 67283 or 78015 or 81437 at any time.

1.       Stop receiving Messages

Delete an Account

  1. Go to the My Account page
  2. Click the located across from your registered name and email address.
  3. Click Delete Account.
  4. Enter your current password.

*Note: Deleting your account is permanent and cannot be undone.

  1. Click the Delete Account button.

 

Registration – Account Creation

Your Registration Email will be automatically populated with your Student Gmail address. (e.g. s.student@students.clark.edu)

*Note: Enter your 10-digit Mobile Number with no dashes, spaces, or periods. (e.g. 3609922010)

  1. Agree to RAVE Terms of Use

On the Terms of Use section, check the box next to" I have read and agree to the Rave Terms of Use.

  1. Click the Proceed to Next Step
  2. Confirm your Mobile Carrier

Rave automatically recognizes your carrier.  Confirm your Mobile Carrier by selecting it from the dropdown menu.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. When will the Rave Alert system be used?

The Rave Alert emergency notification system will be used only for the following purposes:

  1. Does Rave Alert replace the FlashAlert system the College is currently using?

Yes, for emergency text messages, the college will use Rave Alert. However, the college will continue to use FlashAlert to feed information about weather delays or closures to broadcast media outlets. You may continue your subscription to FlashAlert if you so desire.

  1. Is there any cost to use Rave Alert?

Rave Alert system will not charge you in any way.  Standard or other messaging charges apply depending upon your wireless carrier plan and subscription details.

  1. I'm a parent of a Clark College student.  May I subscribe to Rave?

No, you cannot subscribe directly. However your student has the option to add additional contact numbers and email addresses to his/her account.  You can ask your student to add your contact information to his/her account on your behalf.

  1. What if my cell number changes?

Visit the My Account tab at https://www.getrave.com/login/clark and click the Edit link next to the mobile number you would like to change. Enter the new mobile number you want to use in the fields provided, and click Continue.  You will then be asked to confirm your mobile phone carrier.

When changing your primary mobile number, you will receive a text message containing a 4-digit confirmation code.  You must enter this confirmation code within this website to complete the primary mobile phone registration process.

  1. If you do not receive the confirmation code within a couple of minutes, visit the My Accounttab and click the Click here to resend now  If you still fail to receive the confirmation text message, click the Edit link associated with Mobile Contact (1), and confirm your mobile number and carrier are correct, making any changes necessary.

If you do not receive a confirmation text message after following the steps above, your mobile carrier may be enforcing a premium text messaging block on your account. To remedy this, contact your carrier and ask to have text messages from short codes 67283 and 226787 delivered to your mobile device.

  1. What if my cell provider changes, but my number stays the same?

If you keep the same cell number and simply change your cell phone provider, you do not have to change anything.  It may take several weeks for your cell provider to update the Rave system.  During that time it is possible that you will not receive any messages unless you login to https://www.getrave.com/login/clark to manually update the changes.

  1. If you already have my Registration Email address, why do you need a Preferred Email address?

Specifying a Preferred email address allows for the delivery of Rave-generated email to addresses other than the one you used when registering for this service.  If you frequently use an email account other than the one specified within the Registration email field, we recommend you add these addresses as Preferred email addresses.  Preferred Email addresses may be added at any time within the My Account tab under Email Contacts.

  1. How do I identify incoming messages from Rave Alert?

All messages will come from either 67283 or 226787.  We encourage you to save these numbers to your phone so you will recognize them as Rave Alerts when the messages are sent. 

  1. How do I stop getting messages?

There are two ways to stop receiving messages on your phone:

Text STOP to 67283 or 226787 from your registered mobile phone. You will no longer receive ANY messages from Rave Alert.
