Advising
The Advising Department provides assistance for students seeking academic planning services. Advisors help students understand degree requirements, how to register for classes, registration procedures, provide transfer information, and understand college policies and procedures. Check in times for students will end prior to the Advising Department closing time - this varies according to how many students are in line to see an advisor.
Information about appointments
Advisors are available by appointment every Tuesday and Wednesday each week. Advisors are available on a drop-in basis every Monday, Thursday, and Friday. To schedule an appointment, students can call the Advising Department up to two weeks in advance at 360-992-2345. Appointments will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Please be advised that if you are not able to attend your scheduled appointment, you must call the Advising Department in advance to cancel or reschedule; students who do not contact the advising department in advance to cancel a scheduled appointment will be prohibited from scheduling future appointments and will be required to meet with advisors on a drop-in basis.
Who is my advisor?
The Advising Department at Clark College has three divisions:
- College Preparation and Transfer

Advisors work with students enrolled in pre-college-level courses and/or intending to transfer to a four-year university
- Professional/Technical

Advisors work with students enrolled in industrial or vocational degrees and certificates such as Business,
Medical Office, Paralegal, Automotive, Welding, Diesel, Computer Technology, Data Networking, Power Utilities,
Mechatronics, and Culinary Arts
- Health Occupations and Education

Advisors work with students enrolled in Health Occupations (Nursing, Dental Hygiene, Medical Radiography,
Pharmacy Technician, Phlebotomy, Emergency Medical Technician), Elementary or Secondary Education,
or pre-professional health programs (pre-medicine, pre-pharmacy)
Each division is staffed by advisors trained in their program areas. When you visit the Advising Department you may request to meet with a specialist advisor in your area. Specialist advisors can:

answer more detailed questions on degree completion, preliminary requirements,
application processes for transfer programs (if applicable) or competitive entry programs (if applicable)

help you complete your education plan

provide unofficial transcript evaluations

calculate points for competitive entry programs

complete advisor portions of Financial Aid paperwork - Degree Audits for appeals, Second Year Loan forms

Faculty advisors
Students in certain programs receive advising from faculty advisors or other Clark College employees. Please contact a faculty advisor if you are seeking a degree or certificate from the following:
- Addiction Counseling
- Early Childhood Education
- Engineering/Computer Science
- Graphic Design
