Exception to Admission Policy

There are two (2) exceptions to the General Admissions Policy:
  1. Age Exception: (under sixteen (16) years of age) and/or
  2. Course Level Exception: (under eighteen (18) years of age requesting to take courses under 100 level)
This policy applies to students currently completing high school requirements. Requests for exceptions are rarely granted. The minimum age for admission into credit classes is sixteen (16). The minimum course level is college level (100 or above) for students currently completing high school. Students admitted by exception are not eligible for financial aid.

To apply for an exception, the student must submit all required documentation prior to the quarterly deadline. Late applications will not be accepted.

This policy applies to all credit classes at Clark College, except Adult Basic Education and Continuing Education. Students age sixteen (16) and over who meet the provisions of "Title III-Adult Education programs" may enroll in certain basic education classes. Persons admitted into such classes (basic skills, academic support, or remedial) will be allowed to continue as long as they demonstrate, through measurable academic progress, an ability to benefit.

The Running Start program has its own set of admission policies and procedures.

Special Note: Students sixteen (16) and seventeen (17) years of age who have not yet completed high school and are requesting college-level courses will be required to submit an Exception to Admissions Policy form signed by their high school counselor. These students will only be allowed to enroll during the Open Registration cycle. Check the quarterly schedule of classes for dates.

Contact the Admissions Office at (360) 992-2107, for information about procedures and deadlines.
