Group Fitness Instructor Certificate of Completion

The Fitness Trainer Program’s Group Fitness Instructor Certificate of Completion program prepares students with the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to take the ACE™ Group Fitness Instructor certification exam.
How to apply for this program:
  1. Submit Admissions application to Clark College: Please go to Admissions and Financial Aid "Quick Step" page to get admitted to Clark College. Students applying by early March will have the best opportunity of registering early for this quickly filled program.
  2. Register for the following classes by the date indicated on your admissions paperwork. Registration for summer term generally begins in mid-May.

 

Courses in Group Fitness Certificate of Completion (offered summer-term only)

*FT 150 Fundamentals of Fitness
Basic principles of exercise science, exercise prescription and risk management for the fitness professional.

FT 155 Group Fitness Instructor
Develop skills related to exercise technique and instruction focusing on group exercise training to music.

*HLTH 120 Adult CPR and First Aid
Introduction to adult CPR and general first aid skills that will prepare the student to recognize emergencies, make first aid decisions, and provide care. Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive Adult CPR and Standard First Aid certification.



*Fitness Trainer AAS degree students who have already completed FT 260 Exercise Prescription I – Healthy Populations and FT 220 Facility Management, need only take the FT 155-Group Fitness Instructor class to earn the certificate of completion.
