Hawkins Prize for Student Writing
Each year we review all the superior papers and creative work from each course and select the best in each of the following categories: Basic Skills, Expository, Critical, Research, Fiction and Poetry. Each of these Hawkins Awards, given every May at the Student Awards Banquet, consists of a certificate of achievement, a letter of appreciation, and a check for $200 for 1st place from us. Your English teacher will contact you if your work has been selected, and ask you to fill out a permission form.

Dr. Richard Hawkins, who died in 1988, was our beloved colleague in English for many years. We know that he would be very pleased to see you receive this award in his name.
