Clark College Hosts First “Healthy Penguin Walkabout”

Free community event offers the public the opportunity to receive free health
assessments and learn about the impacts of sugar on health

WHO:   Clark College students in Business, Business Medical, Dental Hygiene, Fitness Trainer, Health and Physical Education,
             Medical Assisting, Nursing, Pharmacy Tech, and Phlebotomy programs 

WHAT:  Healthy Penguin Walkabout, a free community event that promotes health and education

                Registration will take place in Gaiser Hall; event stations will be located around campus.

 When:   Saturday, May 21, 2016
               10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Why:      Community members and anyone interested in good health are invited to participate in this free event to stroll Clark’s
               beautiful campus and receive free health assessments while learning about the effects of sugar on one’s health.

Visuals:  See Clark College business and health science students demonstrate their skills and learnings while providing health
                assessments to community members. Students and faculty will be available for interviews.

About Healthy Penguin Walkabout
This event is a part of the college’s focus on inter-professional learning for Clark Business and Health Sciences students. Free health assessments include:

Participants will be able to walk the college's Penguin Pathway while enjoying fun learning activities for the entire family, such as superhero yoga, kick the cavity, comfort animals, music relaxation, and more. Each station on the walkabout will have a children’s activity, health assessment, and learning opportunity led by Clark students. Participants will also have the opportunity to collect prizes at each station; upon completing the walk, they can enter into a raffle for additional prizes, including an annual membership to the Clark College fitness center.
