LIBRARY 105 : Research in the Information Age

Spring Quarter 2007


Who will benefit from this class? Any student who needs updating on research skills. This class is ideal for returning students, transfers or students who will be required to write research papers for other classes.

Credits: 1 credit - General Elective - Repeatable up to 3 times.

NEW DAY and TIME! Weekend/Hybrid class. Meets Saturday, Aprtil 21 and Saturday, May 5, from 1-5:00, and online.

Location: Library Instruction Lab, Library 103.

Format: 8 hours of class time and 2 hours of online meetings. Activities include short lectures, demonstrations, group and individual hands-on activities. Outside work includes online tutorials, readings, assignments, and a final project.

Course Description: LIBR 105 is a survey of information research techniques. Students will learn to locate, analyze, and evaluate information. Students will develop search strategies and use a variety of information resources including the Internet and other computerized tools. Students will be encouraged to use a research assignment from another class for their research project. Meets outcomes for Clark College Information/Technology and Communication Abilities.

Prerequisite:
Demonstrated eilgibility for college-level work.
