Open During Quarter Break! March 29-April 1

Good news for all those students who asked that Cannell Library be open during the quarter break!

Open signCannell Library will be open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday - Thursday, during the second week of the quarter break. The March 29 - April 1 hours will include student access to the first floor computer lab, but the second floor computer lab will be closed.

Although onsite reference assistance will not be available during the break, online 24/7 reference service is always accessible from (select "Ask a Librarian" in the top orange-colored bar). To contact library staff during quarter break, call 360-992-2504.

Open sign Renewing and Paying Library Fees Online --

Most Clark College library materials can be also renewed (maximum of 2 times) online 24/7, except if there are holds placed when someone is waiting for the item. To renew Clark College library materials online, use the “My Library Record/Renew Books” link at the top right on the Clark College Library website. Overdue and lost item fees can be paid online using a credit card; use the library record link.

Open sign Returning Library Items During Closures --

A book return box is located north of Gaiser Hall adjacent to the Green 1 parking lot. Return boxes are also outside the front entrance to Cannell Library; one is specifically designated for audiovisual items. Return boxes are emptied once daily during closures. At CTC a book return box is located outside the main entrance.

Open sign Requesting Library Items During Breaks --

During quarter breaks, online requests for Clark College Library and Summit Borrowing are processed as usual. However, all requested materials must be picked up at Cannell Library because the Information Commons at CTC is closed. Requestors are contacted by phone when materials are available. From March 22-26, borrowers will need to arrange an appointment to get requested items.

Interlibrary loan borrowing (outside the 36 Summit colleges and universities in Oregon and Washington) will resume for all students Monday, March 29.

Open sign Accessing Electronic Books and Databases Off-Campus --

Continuing students, faculty and staff have unaltered access to library databases and electronic books using their Clark ID numbers. Newly-enrolled students for spring quarter should also be able to use electronic books and databases beginning March 22, if all fees have been paid.

24/7 Reference Service!

Please spread the word to students:

Along with e-mail reference, Cannell Library offers 24/7 Chat with a Librarian!

Students can access these services from the library’s website, either by following the Ask a Librarian link in the top orange-colored navigation bar, or by going directly to:

When students log in to 24/7 Chat they can get research assistance from an academic librarian participating in the nationwide consortium. If the student supplies an email address, Cannell Librarians have an opportunity to review the chat transcript and send a follow-up message, if needed.

When students use the e-mail reference service, Cannell Librarians respond as soon as possible during the library’s open hours.

Thanks for sharing the news!
