Clark College Concert Band Fall Performance
For Immediate Release
November 6, 2024

VANCOUVER, Wash. — The Clark College Concert Band under the direction of Dr. Doug Harris, presents their Fall Concert on Sunday, December 8, 2024 at 3:00 pm, Skyview HS, 1300 NW 139th St, Vancouver. Admission to the performance free and open to the public. Donations to the Clark College Music Department are welcome at the door.
"The Concert Band's season opens Sunday, December 8th at Skyview, and the downbeat is 3:00pm. The concert opens with Christopher Green's 2018 composition, Atlantic Fanfare. Following that is Frank Ticheli's Cajun Folk Songs 2, a delightful work in two movements, then Alfred Reed's gorgeous setting of the traditional tune Greensleeves. The first part of the program ends with Julie Giroux's exciting 2020 composition Burning the Wickerman.
As is our custom, the December concert features several small ensembles. This year, we are presenting Maestro Don Appert's newest work, Invictus II, written for our brass section in this, his 35th and final year with Clark College. We follow that with works for both the woodwind choir and the percussion ensemble.
The full band returns with American composer Samuel Barber's classic Commando March, the beautiful work The Old Boatman by Florence Price and we conclude the concert with another American masterpiece, Chorale and Alleluia, by Howard Hanson. As always, our concerts are free and open to the public. I hope you can join us."
