On June 5, Clark celebrated the induction of 40 new members to Phi Theta Kappa, the official honor society at Clark College. Friends and families joined the inductees at the Student Center for an evening of reflection, connection, and excitement for the future as they celebrated this milestone. The society welcomed more than 250 students during the 2025-26 academic year.

Tobias Nelson, the chapter's outgoing Vice President of Scholarships, highlighted the many achievements the organization has accomplished recently:

For this work, Clark’s PTK chapter, Alpha Sigma Phi, earned second place in the region for the Distinguished Honors in Action Award.

Alongside the new inductees, the ceremony also recognized Darci Feider, the former PTK advisor at Clark, who received the regional Distinguished Advisor Award. In her keynote speech, Darci emphasized the impact of genuine connection.

“Community and fellowship aren’t just ideas we talk about at Clark College,” she said. “They are woven into the foundation of who we are. I hope you’ll remember that Phi Theta Kappa is more than academic success. It is also about fellowship. It’s about creating the kind of community where people feel welcome, supported, and valued. Where students remind one another that they belong here ... I hope you’ll continue to find ways to connect, contribute, and be part of the communities that matter to you.”

About Phi Theta Kappa

Phi Theta Kappa has been recognized as an official honor society at Clark College since 1991. For more than 100 years, Phi Theta Kappa has recognized academic achievement while helping students develop professional and leadership skills, earn scholarships, and explore career pathways. At Clark College, the Alpha Sigma Phi Chapter, led by advisor and program director Cole Timpone, gives students opportunities to expand their leadership abilities, connect with peers, and broaden their horizons both inside and outside the classroom.

Membership to PTK is by invitation only and is based on having a 3.25 cumulative GPA after completing at least 12 credits towards a degree, or six credits towards a certificate program. Eligible students are invited at the end of each term.

PTK members represent a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. Many are working adults, students preparing to transfer to four-year universities, or individuals pursuing new career opportunities. They span all ages, majors, and career fields, united by a commitment to academic excellence and personal growth.
