Computer Support involves the effective management of Information Technology (IT) resources and providing technical assistance to computer users for small companies to large organizations. 

Computer Support Specialists assist users in-person, by telephone, or remotely. They use technical knowledge to install, configure and maintain hardware and diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve computer-related issues.

Computer Support in a Real-World Learning Environment

As Technology has become a prominent fixture in our lives, the gadgets and computer equipment we use are in a constant state of evolution and growth. This continuous innovation requires computer professionals to be prepared to support the IT needs of today and tomorrow.  

Students in Clark’s program gain foundational skills in the classroom and apply their knowledge in Clark’s Penguin Help Desk. The helpdesk provides students with a collaborative learning experience and the ability help real-world customers.

The Computer Support program features one and two-year training options for students to gain foundational skills in support, updating, and maintaining IT resources. If you enjoy problem-solving and getting hands-on with your work, Computer Support might be the right career option.

Career Opportunities

Employment opportunities for Computer Support exist in a variety of formats: desktop support, support technician, help desk analyst, and technical support specialist.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, employment projections forecast Computer Support jobs growing at a rate of 9%, with a median wage in the Portland-Vancouver metro area estimated at $23.98.
