Concert Band Auditions

Hello,

I am so glad you are looking to play with the Concert Band this coming season. I am hard at work seeking out new, exciting music for us to explore together. After an extremely successful year last year, I am hoping to continue building on that.

Nobody is required to audition for Concert Band; It is open to all.  However, if you play in a section with different parts (1st and 2nd trumpet/flute, for example) or you are interested in where you may be seated, you are encouraged to audition. My goal is to seat everyone where both they and the band will have the best experience. For your audition, prepare 1-2 selections that show off your best playing.

During the first day of classes, September 19, we will meet in the band room and discuss the upcoming year. I will play some recordings to hopefully get you excited about the music to come. We will also have sign-up sheets if you choose to audition.

One change for this Fall: we will only be rehearsing TWO DAYS a WEEK as opposed to three, as in the past.  These rehearsals will be longer, from noon – 1:20pm on Monday and Wednesday. Given that, missing even one rehearsal a week is a major thing and costs you 50%of the week’s rehearsal. Please schedule appointments and rides so that you can be at all rehearsals. If we are going to play challenging and rewarding music, we need you there! If you have a class conflict, let me know and we will see what can be worked out.

Enjoy your summer and I will see you on September 19th.
