Bachelor of Applied Science Degrees

In today's world, more and more jobs require a bachelor's degree. Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) degrees are designed to stack on top of an existing associate degree, allowing students to build on their existing education and quickly gain valuable skills that will advance their careers. With the exception of the BAS in Dental Hygiene, students enter BAS programs as juniors and are able to earn their bachelor's degree in two years or less.

In today’s digital economy, the need to keep information secure from hackers and data breaches is crucial. The Bachelor of Applied Science in Cybersecurity (CBAS) degree program is designed for students who already hold an associate degree, allowing them to advance their careers in this rapidly expanding field. Full-time students can complete this 90-credit program in as little as 18 months.

Dental Hygiene

Dental Hygiene

The Dental Hygiene program provides classroom and clinical experiences that successfully prepare students for the national board exam and clinical licensing exams. Students learn in state-of-the-art facilities with a 30-chair clinic, radiology suite, and a simulation lab. They also get real-life experience by treating patients both in the college's clinic and at off-campus sites in both Washington and Oregon. This is a four-year program; students can enter without an associate degree.

Teacher Education

Why a Bachelor’s of Applied Science (BAS)?

Washington State community and technical colleges have been offering applied bachelor’s degrees for more than a decade. These four-year degrees fill skill gaps in practical, market-driven fields where job requirements have advanced beyond the associate degree level. They are designed to allow students who already have a non-transferrable associate degree in a career or technical field to earn a bachelor's degree without having to start from scratch at a university. Applied baccalaureate degrees offer the best of both worlds: hands-on training in a career, embedded within a four-year degree. The mean annual income of a graduate with an applied baccalaureate degree is, on average, 29 percent higher than a graduate in the same field who has an associate degree.
