About the Artist:
LB Buchan received a Bachelor of Arts from Western Oregon University in 2006, where they studied sculpture and printmaking. Currently LB resides in Portland, OR and works out of their studio in Vancouver, WA. Most recently LB has exhibited at the Portland International Airport in OR, taught at Port Townsend School of Woodworking, Port Townsend, WA and been awarded residencies at Willipa Bay Artist in Residence, Oysterville, WA, Buffalo Creek Art Center, Gardnerville NV, and Brushcreek Arts Center in Saratoga, WY.
Artwork description:
Two sculptures hang from the two-story breezeway ceiling. The word exuviae means "an animal's cast or sloughed skin, especially that of an insect larva". The larger of the two features an articulated white plastic shell.
Acquisition Information:
Donated to Clark College by the Carpenter-Hale family through the Clark College Foundation. This work was initially placed at the Fisher Pavilion in Seattle Center in 2016. The works were placed at Clark College in the spring of 2019.
