Artwork description:
Woven by Kurdish artisans in the rugged borderlands of western Iran around 1900. Known for their expressive color palettes, bold geometric patterns, and lustrous handspun wool, Kurdish rugs combine tribal spontaneity with remarkable technical skill. Each piece serves as a reflection of a deeply rooted nomadic heritage—an art form where symbolism, landscape, and craftsmanship are woven into enduring beauty.
Acquisition Information:
Gene Seidel, who worked at Crown Zellerbach in Camas for many years, served on the Clark College Foundation Board of Directors. The rugs were made in Persia and were originally in his childhood home. The donation was made to the college through the Clark College Foundation.
