Nancy Friese creates landscape paintings that investigate color, texture, and form found in nature. She notes: "landscape painting is a composite of things seen, remembered and felt. By studying nature's phenomena, I tie the visual observations to experience."
Artwork description:
The gestural, impressionistic landscape Flatbrook Fall by Nancy Friese depicts fall foliage falling onto the surface of Flatbrook Creek. Friese notes, "I attempted to arrive at the combination of oranges and blues that were so intense during that period and the painting is a combination of the warm and cool feeling simultaneously." The painting was created during an artist residency in New Jersey in the autumn of 1981, at the Artists for the Environment Foundation.
