About the Artists:
Howard Meehan and Kathleen Meehan were a Portland, Oregon-based collaborative team who created multi-media public art installations under the name Firefly Studio. Their partnership began in 1988. Both artists continue to create public art independently.
Artwork description:
Voices of the Columbia is a sculpture created by Howard Meehan and Kathleen Meehan. It is a celebration of the Columbia River and the people it has supported over the course of Washington's history. The hanging sculpture references fishing nets, sailing rigging, river pilings, and sparkling ripples of water.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Clark College. (WSAC1994.012.000)
