Artwork description:
Clap, Clap is a monotype print created by artist Laura Ross-Paul. She notes, "I think of my work as a personal landscape of emotions. The two emotions which interest me the most are the intimate and the heroic, and I seek to combine these in my work. The landscape...adds to the mood and serves as a mysterious stage upon which the figurative drama is played. Painting is a process of self exploration for me and I paint until the image feels familiar."
Monotypes are unique prints made by painting with inks directly onto the printing plate. Only one print can be made from the plate. The image is transferred onto paper using a printing press. Clap, Clap was printed at North Light Editions, a regional press noted for its work with the monotype process, located in Portland, Oregon.
