Career and Technical Education (CTE) Showcase

Tuesday, April 23

The Career and Technical Education (CTE) Showcase is an opportunity for high school students to spend a day on Clark’s campus and participate in hands-on, faculty-led workshops, that allow the students to explore different programs of interest and the careers they prepare them for. Twenty-one High Schools have registered to attend this year's event, and we are expecting close to 400 students.

Past Events

College Planning Day

The Washington Council’s College Planning Day provides a one-stop opportunity for high school sophomores, juniors, and undecided seniors to learn about Washington State’s higher education options. Clark College and Washington State University Vancouver take turns hosting the event for our high school service area each year.

During the event, students attend presentations from public and private institutions across the state of Washington, giving them a chance to connect with admissions representatives and get their questions answered.

8th Grade Exploration Day

 

Held annually in the spring on several Washington college campuses, the Washington Council 8th Grade College Exploration Days are designed to introduce 8th graders to the available options for continuing their education after high school. Students rotate through a series of small group sessions, which are designed to be interactive as well as fun and educational.

Generally, events start at 9:00 am and run until approximately 1:00 pm; however, each site’s timeline can vary. Clark College and Washington State University Vancouver take turns hosting the event for local middle schools each year

Discovering College Confidence

Formally known as Gateways: A Student of Color Open House.

This event is an opportunity for high school students of color to connect with our college community and envision themselves as college students.

During this event, students will participate in a series of workshop sessions meant to:

  • address challenges that they may face as a student of color in college
  • provide them with strategies for resilience
  • highlight resources to support their academic journey

Together we’ll explore the power of confidence and celebrate why you belong on a college campus!

Program Preview Day

Formally known as Professional Technical Day.

The Program Preview Day events are designed for high school students who want to learn more about Career and Technical Program options provided by Clark College. This event requires each attending student to pre-register for the program sessions they would like to explore. During the event, students will rotate through their selected sessions and hear about career and degree/certificate options from Clark program faculty members.

Launch Pad to College for High School Seniors

The Launch Pad to College event is designed to guide you through the enrollment processes from start to finish. By the end of the event, you will have everything you need to register for first-term classes, understand the financial aid process, and prepare for your first term at Clark College.
