FYE Qualifications and Responsibilities

The FYE Mentor Program is a part of the First Year Experience which started in Fall 2012 at Clark College. Mentoring is a "best practice" in first year experience programs, and research has demonstrated that students who have a mentor persist in college at significantly greater rates than students who do not have a mentor. New students to Clark, "mentees" will be matched with Clark faculty and staff who will serve as volunteer mentors. These mentors will act as a contact person and provide encouragement and support to new students transitioning to Clark College. The mentor will also enhance students' academic success by connecting them with on campus services, resources and activities.
