A Taste of Scotland to Raise Scholarship Funds

 
VANCOUVER, Wash. – In Scotland, January traditionally marks the occasion for a slew of “Burns Nights” honoring the famed Scottish poet with song, food, and cheer. On Thursday, January 15, local diners and lovers of literature can take part in the tradition when Clark College and Mill Creek Pub partner to present “A Taste of Scotland: Ode to the Haggis.”

Guests will enjoy a traditional Scottish supper, including an authentic haggis that will be ceremonially marched into the venue with a bagpipe procession.  Entertainment will include recitations of Burns’ poetry; guests can also participate in silent and live auctions emceed by Alexander “Sandy” McKenzie.

The event will raise scholarship money for students from Scotland to attend Clark College. In recent years, Clark College’s International Programs have expanded, now surpassing 200 students from countries as varied as Saudi Arabia, China, and Germany.

The event will begin with a 5:30 p.m. social hour and the program will start at 6 p.m. The event is being held at the Clark College Columbia Tech Center at 18700 SE Mill Plain Blvd. Tickets for individuals are $100; tables of six are available for $600, and two tables of six can be reserved for $1000. A portion of the ticket price is tax-deductible.
