A perfect T-TEN
Clark College’s automotive technology department
is one of four programs in the country
to receive the 2011 T-TEN School Recognition Award

VANCOUVER, Wash. – Clark College’s automotive program has received the 2011 T-TEN School Recognition Award, presented to the highest performing T-TEN schools across the country.
T-TEN is described as “a world class training program with the ultimate goal of training and placing Toyota and Lexus certified technicians in a dealership position.”
Rick Lester, technician development manager for Toyota Motor Sales USA, and Andrew Passage, Toyota's field representative to its T-TEN partner colleges, traveled from California to Vancouver to present the award during the college’s Board of Trustees meeting on May 23. The award was accepted by automotive technology instructor Jason Crone and professor Mike Godson.
Lester noted that the T-TEN award honors programs that “distinguish themselves through their attention to service to their students and our dealers.” The award was based on eight specific criteria. Clark exceeded standards in three areas: T-TEN graduations, placements in employment at Toyota dealers and Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications. Lester thanked instructor Tonia Haney for her role in the program’s success and acknowledged Crone and Godson for their “contributions to the success of T-TEN at the local and national levels.”
Lester said, “Jason Crone developed a comprehensive business plan to expand Clark's T-TEN influence and support of our growing dealers in Washington and Oregon. For well over a decade, Mike Godson has held a leadership role at the national level with Toyota, chairing our national advisory council and serving on our standards committee.” Lester noted that he is working with Godson on “the development of a new T-TEN school association designed to promote professional collaboration and instructor mentoring between our programs.”
Crone said, “This T-TEN Recognition Award is a great honor for our program. Toyota evaluates the schools on many different criteria and chose Clark as one of the four top schools. This is an enormous accomplishment for us.”
