Disability Support Services (DSS)

About DSS

Clark College and the Disability Support Services (DSS) office assist students with disabilities in pursuing their educational goals. Clark College is committed to ensure its programs and services are accessible and inclusive for students with disabilities. Through DSS, students with disabilities can request accommodations to ensure equal access and discuss their concerns regarding barriers encountered. DSS will primarily focus on approving and providing, in partnership with faculty, student disability accommodations for classes.

We also strive to create a welcoming environment for diverse students seeks disability accommodations. We also promote Clark's Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (ODEI) events and resources.

Need a Sign Language Interpreter or captioning?

DSS can try to provide interpreters for meetings, classes, or events with advanced notice. New students can also request interpreters if you plan to visit campus There is a national shortage of interpreters but we are doing our best. Please request as early as you can and if there is a secondary time for your meeting, please add that in the note section at the end of the request form: Request a Sign Language Interpreter or Captioning.

Scheduled proctoring appointments in advance will still occur, students need to schedule 5 business days in advanced. Students can schedule in myDSS or contact us for support.

Finals Chill Out Space:

Winter Term: Tuesday, March 19th, 11a.m.-3p.m. in PUB 002 (formerly Career Services). Space for relaxing or studying with FREE grab & go snacks, an art station, and quiet music. There will also be a DSS staff person or DSS peer mentor available if you need to check in with someone 1:1. This event is located down the hallway from Disability Support Services in room PUB 002.

 

Disability Peer Mentors:

Are you a newer DSS student who wants to check in with a mentor about your accommodations? Or are you struggling with your courses and want some peer support? Do you want to just hang out with students with disabilities? If you are interested in learning about our peer mentor program, email DSS at dss@clark.edu.

 

ADHD Skills Group:

On Zoom, Wednesdays at 1p.m., starting January 31.

Group is 6 weeks long, registration open until 2/7.

Open to all Clark students with ADHD, or ADHD-like challenges.

Do you struggle to stay focused, get motivated, or follow through on assignments? Has online learning been a challenge? Then this group is for you! Our group is a place to form connections with other students dealing with similar issues, share ideas, and learn ADHD management skills to help you succeed in the college environment. Autism Spectrum Success Group:

On Zoom, Thursdays from 12-1pm, starting Feb 1st.

Group is 5 weeks long, registration open until 2/8.

Open to all Clark students with Autism or suspected Autism.

Do you identify as neurodivergent/Autistic/a student on the Autism Spectrum, including Asperger's Syndrome? Interested in making new friends, checking in on your week, and discussing strategies for personal and academic success? Join us for our exciting 5-week Autism Spectrum Group! We will meet over Zoom every Thursday from 12pm-1pm starting the 4th week of each quarter (excluding summers). This is a friendly, supportive environment that is affirming of the neurodiversity paradigm. Group is open to any Clark College student with Autism or suspected Autism.
