Elementary Science Olympiad
Science Olympiad is quite likely the best kept secret around!
The Elementary Science Olympiad (ESO) is an exciting newer event to Clark College. At the ESO teams from local elementary schools in grades 3-5 participate in a fun half day of hands on events whose purpose is to excite, inspire, challenge and foster interest in Science, Engineering, and Math.
Students will participate in five different events where they will take an active role in exploring science topics. Kids and their coaches have an incredible amount of fun, address WASL material, get inspired to study science fields, and end up winners - no matter what the result of competitions.

- One pair of scissors per Group will be provided to construct the barge, but they may not be used as a component of the barge itself. The scissors may not be used to cut pipe cleaners, paper clips, popsicle sticks or anything of similar density.
- Each Group will be provided with one unit of cargo during the construction time to aid with prediction and design, but it may not as a component of the barge itself.
- Under "The Competition," Item #4 should read: "The Group must predict the number of pieces of cargo that the barge will hold. Any cargo that drops in the water without landing on the barge, bounces off the barge as it is being loaded, or causes the barge to sink will not count in the total cargo. Sinking occurs when water enters the barge, cargo falls off the barge into the water, or cargo gets wet."
