Award-winning Coach to Lead Clark Women's Soccer

Stan Rodrigues brings professional and educational experience
as a coach and player

Stan RodriguesVANCOUVER, Wash. — Stan Rodrigues, named 2009 co-coach of the year in the Pacific Conference of the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL), has been named coach of women’s soccer at Clark College.  He succeeds Troy Sletten, who served as coach for the past eight years.

In addition to serving as head coach of the Portland Rain, Rodrigues was head coach of the West Side Metro Soccer Club, located in Beaverton, Ore., earning state championships in girls soccer in two age groups.   Since 2004, he has served as head coach for girls varsity soccer at Franklin High School in Portland, Ore. and Century High School in Hillsboro, Ore.  He has also served as head coach for the Canby (Ore.) United Soccer Association.

At the college level, Rodrigues played on the men’s club teams at Central Oregon Community College in Bend, Ore. and Lane Community College in Eugene, Ore.  He also played for Liga Nacional, a semi-professional men’s club team in Larchmont, N.Y.

In citing him for co-coach of the year honors, WPSL Pacific Conference leadership noted that the team “faced & rebounded from adversity in the Pacific Conference” and that Rodrigues “led the Rain through early season struggles to a classy 4th-place finish in the North Division.”

Rodrigues and his wife Andela currently reside in Tigard, Ore. with their two sons, Vincent, 16, who plays for the Southridge High School Soccer team, and Darian, 5.

During the past eight years, Clark’s women’s soccer teams have gone to the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges (NWAACC) playoffs six times and competed in the quarterfinal round four times.
