IN THE SPIRIT OF THE HOLIDAYS:
TWO WAYS TO SUPPORT CLARK COLLEGE STUDENTS

A matching donation in support of Mature Learning and a commemorative book in support of student scholarships highlight Clark College’s holiday wish list

VANCOUVER, Wash. -- During the holidays, many people think about special gifts for family and friends as well as gifts that support the community.  This year, people wishing to support Clark College students have two special options.

A matching gift for Mature Learning

An anonymous donor has promised to match up to $15,000 in donations to the Clark College Mature Learning program.  The donations must be received by December 31, 2008.

Mature learning is an educational and cultural enrichment program for persons age 55 and older. Nearly 1800 people from throughout the region take part in mature learning classes each year.  Classes in fitness, art, writing, computers, sciences, history, humanities and more provide opportunities for learning, exchanging ideas, and socializing with peers.  There are no tests, grades or homework.

Because many older adults are on fixed incomes, the college strives to keep class costs affordable.  As a result, tuition does not cover the full cost of mature learning program.   Instead, the program relies on volunteer support and contributions.

Donations to the Mature Learning program can be made through the Clark College Foundation.   Donations may be securely made online at http://www.clarkcollegefoundation.org/donate.  People who have questions or would like more information can call (360) 992-2301 or send an e-mail to info@clarkcollegefoundation.edu.

A commemorative book in support of student scholarships
