Clark College announces trips to New York and Japan
as part of their 2008 Travel Studies program
VANCOUVER, Wash. -- Do you remember the first time you discovered you loved adventure? Are you looking for travel experiences with a difference?
Clark College Travel Studies program will host two memorable journeys -- to New York City and Joyo, Japan -- as part of their 2008 Travel Studies program. The Cherry Blossom package, travelling to Vancouver's Sister City, will take place from April 3-13, 2008. The Broadway theatre tour package will take place from May 6-12, 2008.

New York City -- Theatre Tour 2008

Clark College’s customized annual tour with the hottest shows on Broadway fills up quickly. Guests will stay in Manhattan near the elegant shops of Fifth Avenue. The trip package includes a theatre professional as your New York escort. Participants will visit the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, Rockefeller Center, and Ground Zero. They will also enjoy a walking tour of Times Square at night as well as free time for shopping and museums. The trip will include tickets for three Broadway plays: “Young Frankenstein,” a new revival of "South Pacific," and one more show from the new spring season, yet to be announced. The college will present an information class on the plays with New York background prior to the trip.
The trip package includes airfare, hotel, three plays, breakfasts, & four dinners. The cost is $2,375 per person, double occupancy. Single accommodations are available upon request.
Cherry Blossoms in Joyo, Japan -- Vancouver’s Sister City

Vancouver’s Sister City of Joyo, Japan is located between Osaka, Kyoto and Nara. Participants will enjoy a 10-day tour of Japanese culture, cuisine and architecture that has been personalized for Vancouver residents.
Last April, Clark College was approached by Vancouver's Sister City, Joyo, to visit Japan to provide a customized exploration of Joyo and its surrounding area. According to organizers, Clark College’s trip will include special city ceremonies and travelers will be showered with personal attention from this wonderful city.
Participants will learn about Japanese customs in a special class prior to the trip. The class will be taught by Japanese instructor Akiko Kamei Pinard.
Tour participants will see the temples and gardens of Kyoto, visit Osaka Castle and take a waterway cruise; go to the ancient city of Nara. Experience arts with local citizens at Joyo’s Community Center plus a traditional tea ceremony.
The trip includes airfare, hotel, coach, breakfast, some lunches and dinners. The fee for double occupancy is $4,950 per person. Single accommodations are available upon request.
