Cherry Blossoms in Joyo, Japan -- Vancouver’s Sister City
April 3-13, 2008

Imagine being in Japan during Sakura - cherry blossom time.

Vancouver’s Sister City of Joyo, Japan is located between Osaka, Kyoto and Nara.  Participants will enjoy a 10-day tour of Japanese culture, cuisine and architecture that has been personalized for Vancouver residents.

Last April, Clark College was approached by Vancouver's Sister City, Joyo, to visit Japan to provide a customized exploration of Joyo and its surrounding area. According to organizers, Clark College’s trip will include special city ceremonies and travelers will be showered with personal attention from this wonderful city.

Participants will learn about Japanese customs in a special class prior to the trip.  The class will be taught by Japanese instructor Akiko Kamei Pinard.

Tour participants will see the temples and gardens of Kyoto, visit Osaka Castle and take a waterway cruise; go to the ancient city of Nara. Experience arts with local citizens at Joyo’s Community Center plus a traditional tea ceremony.

The trip includes airfare, hotel, coach, breakfast, some lunches and dinners. The fee for double occupancy is $4,950 per person.  Single accommodations are available upon request.
