VANCOUVER, Wash. -- Two community leaders have been honored with the Clark College Foundation’s Presidential Awards for Excellence.
Keith Koplan and Jim Raines, both of Vancouver, received the awards during the foundation’s annual Savoring Excellence reception and dinner on May 31. The event recognizes donors who have made significant contributions to Clark College in support of the college’s mission to provide opportunities for individuals to pursue their educational goals.
Keith Koplan, owner of Koplan Furniture, is a longstanding member of the foundation board of directors and serves as chair of the foundation’s investment committee.
Jim Raines is a member of the Clark College Alumni Association, where he serves as alumni membership chair. He also serves on the college’s Penguin Athletic Club (PAC) board. Before his retirement, Jim Raines served as a speech therapist in the Vancouver School District. He also worked for the Vancouver Education Association and the Washington Education Association in Seattle.
The awards were presented by Clark College Interim President Robert K. Knight and Foundation President Lisa Gibert. Gibert said, “Jim Raines and Keith Koplan are outstanding community leaders. Through their generosity and support, the foundation is able to carry out its mission to support the students of Clark College as they take ‘the next step’ to achieve their educational dreams.”
